NEXUS is a co-working space owned and operated by Highlands and Islands Enterprise based at Inverness Campus.

A space for businesses to grow

NEXUS offers life sciences and technology companies space to innovate, collaborate and grow.

Based on Inverness Campus, the flexible office and lab space provides you with the opportunity to work alongside like-minded businesses, have access to research and academic partners, close proximity to NHS research, development and innovation, and is within walking distance to the Centre for Health Science, the National Treatment Centre Highland and the Life Sciences Innovation Centre - state of the art facilities with operations focused on health, social care and life sciences.

MIME Technologies arrived at NEXUS after a journey from its roots at the University of Aberdeen’s Centre for Rural Health, based in the Centre for Health Science in Inverness.

After several years of development, MIME Technologies launched its ground-breaking remote medical technology product ‘Aiber’ for the aviation sector in March 2020.

FAIR WORK CONDITIONS FOR FINANCIAL SUPPORT

Any organisation applying for grant funding from HIE must comply with our fair work conditions for financial support. This includes: 

  • Paying all employees, aged 16 years and above (including apprentices), the Real Living Wage (currently £12.00* per hour) as a minimum.
    If you cannot meet this criterion, please contact us before you apply for funding, email enquiries@hient.co.uk
  • Having a flexible working policy
  • Be able to demonstrate how you support workforce development and foster employee engagement.

* The Real Living Wage increased from £10.90 per hour to £12.00 per hour on 24 October 2023. Employers have 6 months, until 01 May 2024, to implement the increase.

About the Northern Innovation Hub

This programme is delivered through the Northern Innovation Hub, a funding programme designed to build on and accelerate business innovation.

The Northern Innovation Hub was awarded £11m from the UK Government as part of the Inverness and Highland City-Region Deal. The deal is a joint initiative supported by £315m investment from the UK and Scottish governments, Highland Council, HIE and the University of the Highlands and Islands. This programme also receives financial support through the European Regional Development Fund Scotland Programme.
